Full-view please! There are an awful lot of little lines to enjoy...

Miyu's adoration of ferrets and strange attraction to animal skeletons made her create this strange apparition - a playful skeletal ferret! He has a ball of yarn to enjoy, and a pillow in the background - yet is made entirely of bones, so doesn't shed or eat! Wouldn't that make a lovely pet? Miyu wants one of her very own!
In case you're wondering, this piece is done in scratchboard. That means it's a black sheet of the board, and you take a sharp tool to scrape it off into the design you want. It's interesting, since it's all in inverse. ^^ You can buy them at dollar stores and such, so it's nothing fancy - but it's rarely seen on deviantART, eheh!
No animals were harmed in the making of this deviation.
The small child that lives in the back of my mind is sobbing in terror, but the rest of me says "OHMYGAWDAWESOME!!" Hahaha. X3
I love all the crosshatching. And the skeleton is... I don't know, what's better than amazing? Awe striking? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?
Yeah, we'll quote Mary Poppins for the skeleton's description. :3
So, questions:
1.) How long did it take you to finish?
2.) Did you get inspired to draw a skelly ferret after you got the board, or was it running around in your mind before hand begging for some scratch board? X3
-- I'd seen a cat without a smile, but never a smile without a cat.
Ah... How long? Well, I didn't draw him out first, so... I'm guessing about two hours. It was during art class, so t'was on and off working. :3
Eheh! Well, sort of both! xD I've drawn skelly ferrets before, but only as sketches. Then when I got the board, I realized it was a great chance to do them justice!
Wow that is something special It must be rarely seen on dA because of the skill involved in creating the drawing and not being able to go over mistakes
Erm...to be honest, I'd still prefer a furry ferret as a pet though
