So, Miyu had an idea! An idea for an event, which hopefully will be fun to participate in! (I've never hosted a contest outside of clubs before, and that's not what this is.)
This open to absolutely anyone of any skill level!

The concept: a real-media exchange. Create five original artist trading cards of your own, and mail them to five DeviantART members. Then five separate artists will mail a card each to you!
The requirements: be willing to send me (and only me) your real mailing address; have materials/time to create five ACEO cards in one month; be able to mail five envelopes!

What is an "ACEO" or "ATC"?

Basically, a miniature drawing on stiff paper/cardstock/Bristol measuring 2 ½ X 3 ½ inches (6cm X 9cm). The initials stand for "artist trading card" or "artist cards, originals and editions". Usually the same thing. C:

Will my real name/address be posted online?

Of course not! I will only send your address to the five artists who will mail things to you, and if you don't want them to know your screen name or real name, just say "anonymous"!

What's the point in doing this?
It's a chance to get five pieces of original art for free, and it gives you a flexible deadline to create some artwork of your own! Making five little cards is hardly a huge investment of time, but it should be a fun side-project to take your mind off of school/work/life in general.

What if I'm too busy to finish all five in time to mail on US Thanksgiving, November 26th?

No sweat, just mail 'em as you finish 'em. C: It's the Honor System - by signing up, you're promising to create and send five cards (even if they end up way past the deadline).

I live outside the US. Am I not eligible to participate?

I'm not going to restrict that, although keep in mind the postage will be a little extra! And US artists, just check the USPS website if you are mailing out-of-country.(Don't worry, it's rarely more than a second first-class stamp - and I won't give ya more than one if possible.)

What should these five cards have on them?

Draw anything you like on the front, with any medium! Most people like to draw a series, focusing on the same species of animal or the same fandom, for example, but for this event, do whatever you want to. It's also optional to include your screen name or signature on the back, as well as the year and event. ;D

Should I scan/upload them to DeviantART before I mail them out?

Sure, if you want to! They should be something you're proud enough to share. ^_^ I might put all the thumbnails in a journal if we get a lot of people to join. (And as long as we get at least five, everybody wins!)

Why is this for Thanksgiving and not a Christmas art exchange?

Silly, everyone is busy during Christmastime. ;3 We have a better chance at doing this in November, since we're only competing with NaNoWriMo. Hopefully we busy types can find some free time!
